Kathryn D. Moomau

  Kathryn D. Moomau, age 89, of Moorefield, WV passed away
on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at her residence. Born on
December 11, 1924 in Colver, PA, she was the daughter of the
late James O. Davis and Kathryn Williams Davis.

  Kathryn graduated from Northfork High School in 1942 and
West Virginia University in 1948. She was employed by the state
as a Child Welfare Worker in the counties of Raleigh,
Greenbrier, Monongalia, Hardy, and Hampshire. She also
worked for the Hardy County Board of Education for 24 years
and joined FEMA in 1985. Kathryn was on the Rural
Development Board, the Moorefield High School Scholarship
Board, the Moorefield Park Board, and the Heritage Weekend
Board, where she served as Chairman three times. She was a
member of the Duplicate Bridge Club, the American Association
of University Women, and the Moorefield Active Caring. She
was a longtime member and former Worthy Matron of Chapter
102 Moorefield Eastern Star. She was also an Elder and
Deacon in the Moorefield Presbyterian Church.   
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis S. Moomau, and
five brothers. She is survived by one daughter, Mollie Prominski; one son, William D. Moomau;
and three grandchildren, Bert Leatherman, Blake Moomau, and Kathryn T. Moomau.

 The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, December 8, 2014 at Elmore
Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at
the Moorefield Presbyterian Church with Pastor Katherine Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in
Olivet Cemetery.
