Elwood Riley Davis, age 79, of Fisher,
WV, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015 at
Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA.
Born on August 23, 1935 in Needmore, WV, he
was the son of the late James Davis and Ollie “Peg” Parker Davis Kovar.
Elwood and his wife, Louise Davis, lived out his dream of operating a pizza
restaurant over the past 41 years, since establishing Colt’s Restaurant in 1974.
Together, they owned and operated this familiar eatery, developing life-long
relationships within the community of Moorefield. Elwood loved making pizzas
and conversations with many.
He is survived by his loving wife, Louise Williams Davis; two daughters, Pam
Davis Elmore Young of Moorefield, WV and Tammy George of South Fork,
WV; his step-father, Joseph “Whitey” Kovar; one sister, Juanita Koller; one
brother, Jim Davis, all of Monroeville, PA; five grandchildren, Michelle Shott,
Jesse Mace, Madeline Elmore and twins, Muryssa and Dylan George; as well
as two great-grandchildren, James and Evelyn.
The family will receive friends from 5-8:00 p.m., Friday, June 5, 2015 at
Elmore Funeral Home in Moorefield, WV. A funeral service will be conducted
at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the funeral home by Pastors Chris
Whetzel and Scott Fawley. Burial will follow in Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of
flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Harry “Sonny” Williams
Scholarship Fund, c/o Moorefield Scholarship Fund, PO Box 907, Moorefield,
