Arlie Winfred Funk, age 83, of Mt. Olive Rd., Rio, WV, passed this life on Friday, March 14, 2014 at the
Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born on Saturday, May 24, 1930 in Fabius, WV, he was the son
of the late Samuel N. Funk and Lillie Sine Funk.
Arlie proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a retired farmer and a
member of the Asbury Methodist Church in Bean Settlement, WV. He was also a member of the Moorefield
American Legion and the Bean Settlement Ruritan Club.
He is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Nova Funkhouser Funk; two daughters, Dixie Lee Miller of
Linville, VA and Donna Virginia Baker of Fulks Run, VA; one son, Dennis Arlie Funk of Kirby, WV; two
sisters, Geneva Fitzwater of Moorefield, WV and Armetha J. Tenney of Chatsworth, GA; seven
grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5-8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Elmore Funeral Home
in Moorefield, WV. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 16, 2014 at the funeral
home with Pastor Nip Crites officiating. Burial will follow at the Asbury Methodist Church Cemetery in Bean
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Asbury Methodist Church or the Asbury
Methodist Church Cemetery, 4222 Mt. Olive Rd., Kirby, WV 26755.
